Located along the Golden Corridor business district of Shenyang, the twin towers of the Baoneng Global Financial Centre have risen to 308 meters. With sophisticated techniques by Yancheng Liangong Formwork Co., Ltd., this super high-rise complex combines a LEED Gold-certified office tower with a five-star sky hotel, the first of its kind in Northeast China. Using third-generation automated Hydraulic Auto-Climbing formwork technology structures for building operation, this project will serve as a reference point for realizing sustainable urban construction.
Structural Challenges: Meeting the Demand of Vertical Cities
The hybrid design of Towers T2 ranges from 64 floors of premiere office standards below 200 meters to luxury hotel space above, thus setting the technical challenges:
High-efficient Vertical Transport: Climbs by conventional systems cannot provide for 0.8 meters per day.
Harsh Climate Conditions: Required hydraulic stability against -25 degree climate during a cold winter period in Shenyang.
Green Building Credentials: LEED Gold in energy efficiency and material recyclability.
Innovative Solutions: The ACS-308 Hydraulic Auto-Climbing System Under the capable guidance of Chief Engineer Emily Liu, the R&D team at Yancheng Liangong developed the ACS-308 patented system.
Dual Redundant Hydraulic Actuation: It was able to maintain more than 75% efficiency during an arbitrary cylinder component failure as established through an enduring climb of 42-days in 2022.
Adaptive Wind Load Reliability: A guide shoe plus dynamic pre-tension design afforded the climbing operation another 30% in wind resistance so that it could work in winds corresponding to Grade 8.
Carbon Footprint Tracking: By utilizing 90% recycled aluminum-magnesium alloys and BIM-based materials management, waste decreased to 0.2 kg/m2-the highest in LEED energy optimization. The system achieved an 18-month lift of 127 meters a month in the core tube construction.
Industry Influences: New Global Standard Set
The project propelled Yancheng Liangong further as national high-tech innovators:
Data-Driven Engineering: More than 120,000 sets of data generated through the Internet of Things refined the stress model for the formwork of the skyscraper.
Sectoral Integration: Cooperation with Shenyang Architectural University in a “Smart Construction Lab” form translated all the project lessons into three drafts of the national industry standards.
Gained International Recognition: CE-certified, the ACS-308 is now a competitor for twin-tower projects for Jakarta, establishing the modern technological leadership status for the super high-rises from China.
World Vision: Intelligent Construction Is Going to Lead the World
“Shenyang Baoneng T2 is an evidence that Chinese innovators are changing the future of superstructures,” said Emily Liu. Driven by "Innovation + Service," Yancheng Liangong continues to redefine urban landscapes from frost-prone Shenyang to tropical Jakarta, demonstrating how intelligent hydraulic systems can elevate cities sustainably across the globe.
